Half Arch Design was co-founded by designers Haitao Chen and Jiani Yao in Shanghai. It is a design company focusing on architecture, interior space and brand strategy. Before founding Half Arch, both founders had experience in internationally renowned firms. Their design projects have been published in multiple platforms and magazines such as Interior Design magazine, Gooood, and Frame. They have also won many awards such as the Best Commercial Space of Golden Bund and Outstanding Designer in Shanghai area of 40UNDER40 of Guangzhou Design Week.

为什么取名半筑？/ Why named Half Arch?

取名灵感来自于“一半的建筑”，因为主理人之一是建筑师的背景，擅长将建筑手法运用到室内空间中。我们认为“半筑”也是一种平衡的艺术，无论是室内空间还是建筑空间，本质上是和使用者的互动空间。

The naming inspiration comes from "half of the architecture". Because one of the founders has an architect background and is good at applying architectural philosophy to interior spaces.

We believe that "Half Arch" is an art of balance. Whether it is an interior space or an architectural space, it is essentially an interactive space with users.

关于创意 /About creativity

我们非常重视设计的开拓性和创新性，这也是我们的核心能力之一。每一个项目，我们都会在最初创意的部分与客户进行扩展讨论，持续的沟通和头脑风暴，以完成一个接近完美的作品。

We attach great importance to the pioneering and innovative nature of design, which is also one of our core capabilities. For every project, we will conduct extensive discussions with clients in the initial creative stage, through continuous communication and brainstorming, to complete a nearly perfect work.

关于设计的落地 /Rendering VS Reality

我们关注落地效果，半筑设计的落地效果往往比设计效果图更加有质感，因为我们认为设计应该是一个流动的、类似于电影的完整叙事结构，而不仅是几个定点静态的打卡点。我们不倾向做为了博眼球而存在的设计，坚持设计需要历久弥新以及可持续发展。当你身处于我们设计的空间中时，你会感受到时间的流动感和场域所表达的情绪。

We pay attention to the final reality effect instead of focus on making renderings looks more real. The final photo of Half Arch Design's work often has more texture than the design renderings. Because we believe that design should be a flowing, complete narrative structure similar to a movie, rather than just a few fixed static check-in points. We are not inclined to design that exists only for attracting attention. We insist that design needs to be timeless and sustainable. When you are in the space we designed, you will feel the sense of time flow and the emotions expressed by the field.
